ART AS TIKKUN OLAM

“RESTORING AND HEALING THE WORLD THROUGH ART”

CURATORS: Paula Mandel & Joan Myerson Shrager.

This exhibition showcased the vision of artists who reach out beyond the purview of their own personal art to the larger world. TIKKUN OLAM is a Hebrew phrase meaning to heal and restore the world. For the very first time, celebrated Philadelphia artists, teachers, founders of community centers, leaders in humanitarian causes, changers of the urban landscape were invited to exhibit their own work and present their community outreach experiences through statements of purpose and photographs of their community projects.
