A Thanksgiving Family Prayer
As we gather together with family and friends for Thanksgiving this year,
we are mindful of the many blessings which enrich our lives.
We pray for the wellbeing of all our loved ones and
for the wellbeing of our country.
Together, let us offer our deepest thanks
to the Source of all who enrich our lives,
brings joy to our hearts and gives us strength to face our challenges,
personal and communal.
Bless us, Eternal One, with peace and sustenance, with continued opportunities to serve You through acts of love and kindness.
Teach us to choose wisely in all that we do
as individuals and as members of society.
Steady our spirits and renew in us the spirit of good citizenship.
Help us to fully embrace our founding principles of “equal justice under law” and to see the humanity of Your children no matter how similar or different they may be from ourselves or one another.
May we continue to strive to become “one out of many” and may each of us sit unafraid and at peace in our homes on this national day of thanks and renewal.
May God bless us with the spirit of Thanksgiving!
Amen.
