Jewish Spirituality Undiminished: Abraham Joshua Heschel, An Authentic Voice of Judaism in Modern Times

Thu, 10/17/2019 - 12:39pm -- Clergy

On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, I will be giving the first of this year’s Masterpiece Classes in Jewish Literature. Our master extraordinaire will be Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel (1907-1972), a modern sage, prophet and scholar. I was introduced to the writings of Rabbi Heschel in my freshman year of college three years after the scholar’s death although I already knew about him. Heschel was the rabbi who had walked with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and remarked, “When I marched in Selma, my feet were praying.” My class will be at 7:30 p.m.
