This genealogy workshop is for beginners learning how to start their own research. The workshop will focus on tips on where to start, who to talk to, what sources of information are available, where to find family history, sources of Holocaust records and much more. A Q & A will take place at the end of the presentation. Donald Wittenberg worked in the School District for over 41 years: a classroom teacher, mathematics specialist, middle school teacher, principal and central office administrator in the Capital Programs Office as an Educational Facilities Planner before he retired and worked as a policy consultant for a charter school. He has been Curator of the Holocaust Awareness Museum and Education Center since 2001. HAMEC is currently located on the second floor of KI. Donald began doing genealogical research in 1980. In that time, he has traced one maternal and paternal line back to the late 1700s. Additionally, he has traced his late wife’s family tree back to the Old Testament. In addition to his own research, he has conducted genealogical workshops in the Philadelphia area for a number of years as well as written articles for his B’nai B’rith Educators newsletter. He is a member of the local Jewish Genealogy organization.
